We’re thrilled to expand our family offerings at Edge Esmeralda this year. It takes a village to raise a child, and together with All One Thing, we’re building that village.
Edgeucation Camp is part of our mission to create community learning hubs, spaces where families, educators, and creators build a shared culture of curiosity, care, and collaboration. This year’s camp will center outdoor adventure, creativity, and hands-on learning, while activating a full ecosystem of family experiences across the week.

A Village for All Ages
Edge Esmeralda is a multigenerational community where families thrive together. Last year, we welcomed more than 80 children to our popup village, from 6-week-old babies to teenagers, creating an environment that blends family life and creative work.
The walkable nature of Healdsburg makes it ideal for families, with its town square, local farms, and the Russian River. Children can explore safely while staying connected to the community, and parents can integrate meaningful work with active participation in their children’s experiences—moving beyond the binary of “working full-time” or “parenting full-time.”
Learning Through Living
At Edge Esmeralda, we believe education should be free-range, playful, and deeply relevant. Children learn best when they engage with a wide range of adults and experiences. In our village, they talk with scientists about their research, learn from artists and builders, and contribute to real community projects.
We’ve designed a learning environment that includes:
Time for free play, movement, and connection
A balance of structured and open-ended learning
Joy and safety as foundations
Mixed-age mentorship and intergenerational exchange
Knowledge demonstrations that serve the community (not standardized tests)
Community-led contributions and flexible learning blocks
Edgeucation Camp 2025
Camp is designed for children ages 2–12 and centers outdoor creativity, nature-based learning, and authentic connection to place.
Camp runs Monday to Friday, with a rhythm that includes:
7:30–8:45am – Optional family park meetups
9am–12pm – Art, nature, and play at Dragonfly Farm
12:30–1:30pm – Lunch and free play at Kids Zone (401 Center Street)
1:30–4:00pm – Community learning blocks led by Edge residents and families
Children will explore the Russian River ecosystem, use tools safely, work with natural materials, and collaborate on projects that connect to their interests and community. Learning content will adapt based on who’s present, with an emphasis on curiosity, systems thinking, and self-direction.
Evening & Weekend Offerings
Beyond the camp day, All One Thing is activating evening and weekend programming across Esmeralda: from taco nights and family jiu jitsu to all-ages dance classes, movie screenings, and spontaneous project demos.
These gatherings are optional, low-pressure ways to connect across generations and deepen the shared culture of the village.
Dedicated Spaces for Families
Families will have access to a range of kid-friendly spaces, including:
Dragonfly Farms – Nature-based outdoor play and exploration
401 Center Street – A dedicated family hub with a kids' zone and parent coworking desks
Park meetups – Designated spots to relax, play, and connect
Scooters, bikes, and town maps available to help families explore
Camp Pricing Options
We’ve created flexible pricing to accommodate a variety of family needs:
Weekly Camp: $450
Two-Week Camp: $640
Full Month Camp: $1,200
Kids under 2 and kids ages 2–12 not participating in camp do not need a ticket. Kids ages 13–18 can purchase teen tickets for full access.
If cost is a barrier, email us at info@edgeesmeralda.com—we’re committed to accessibility for all families.
Parent Participation
This isn’t a drop-off model—it’s a true learning community where parents play an essential role. Volunteer expectations vary by age:
Under 2: Parent must remain present at all times
Ages 2–7: Volunteer 1 full day or 2 half days per week
Ages 8+: Volunteer ½ day per week
Volunteer roles might include supporting art or science projects, helping with transitions, joining a field trip, or leading a morning activity. You’ll be able to select a time slot that fits your schedule.
Call for Collaboration
We’re opening the doors to parents, creatives, educators, inventors, and experimenters who want to share something inspiring with the next generation.
If you have a project, demo, class, or story you’ve been wanting to share with kids and families, please fill out this form! Let’s build experiences that spotlight what’s possible and give young minds access to the incredible things our community is dreaming up.

Congratulations on your family expansion! I love the idea of engaging in online activities and will seek to build opportunities into our Edgeucation Adeventure Camp!
Wow, I love how the children's offerings have evolved! Absolutely incredible work :applause:
Unfortunately my family can't make it this year because I am giving birth at the end of May. I'm curious if there's an online community space for the wider audience / participants of Edge Esmerelda? Even though I can't make the event, I'd love to be a part of it and attend in the future. If there's not one set up already, Hylo is a great option. Bless!
